Melasma is often symmetrical and driven by sun and hormones. Post-inflammatory pigment follows acne or injury. Mixing them leads to the wrong device.
Diagnosis includes depth and skin type. Sunscreen is part of treatment, not a cosmetic extra. A light peel, SPECTRA XT, or LaseMD Ultra may be proposed gradually. Aggressive laser on darker skin without protection can deepen pigment.
